The exquisite Mandoon Estate, situated in the Swan Valley Wine Region, was established in 2008 by a local Perth family, when they purchased the historical piece of land from the iconic Roe Family. The winery itself was then established in 2010, making Mandoon one of the Swan Valley’s youngest wineries.
Although considered ‘babies’ in the Swan Valley, Mandoon (Mandoon meaning “place of many trees” in native indigenous language) is Western Australia’s most awarded boutique winery! Their portfolio of wines boasts a wide selection of hand crafted fine wines by the guidance of head wine-maker Ryan Suduno, who has been with Mandoon since day dot.
Their wine varietals range from your warmer climate beauties, and what the Swan Valley is known best for, including Verdelho, Vermentino, Semillon, Shiraz and Grenache. You’ll also find on the menu wines that use grapes grown in our cooler regions down south which include Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. The fact they use multi-regional grapes to make their wines gives greater diversity and allows for every one’s palate to be satiated.
Mandoon Estates best selling wines tend to be their Rosé in the warmer months and their delicious Old Vine Shiraz in the cooler months. If you want to follow in the foot steps of the wine-maker – Ryan enjoys the Reserve Chardonnay and the Cabernet Merlot (Both two of my favs!).
However – you won’t just find a cellar door full of delicious wines at Mandoon Estate – they have it all going on! In October of 2014 they were proud to open their incredible venue which includes a new cellar door and gift store, the Homestead Brewery (YES there is a Micro-Brewery on site!), Wild Swan which is a fine dining restaurant, function rooms (wedding anyone?!), a luscious looking beer garden, play ground for the kids and a Linton and Kay Art Gallery which is situated inside the old Homestead that John Septimus Roe lived in with his family in the late 1800’s.
Mandoon is a place to visit with family, friends or work colleagues – they’ve truly captured the essence of what the ideal balance is between chic and sophisticated with quality produce and a place to bring the whole family to for that much needed Sunday feast. AND if you can’t be bothered leaving, why not just check into one of Mandoons luxury rooms situated at ‘The Colony’ found on the estate.
In December of 2017, Mandoon opened The Colony – a luxe place to set up ‘camp’ whilst exploring the historic Swan Valley region. The divine rooms are situated in between the old Verdelho Vines and the Swan River to the other side. All rooms having views of these two beauties.
