Langmeil Barossa Blockbuster Shiraz 2011
Deep rich burgundy in colour. Strong and a little floral on the nose – almost too robust and giving a sense that it would have strong tannins as well but it’s quite deceiving. Full bodied and quite heavy, although a smooth velvety palate. There’s some underlying oak and slight tannins.
Lets just say if you like a bit of gusto then you’ve met your match! Not one of my favourites but still enjoyable with dinner. Best to pour your glass and let it sit for 10 before taking a swig (that’s if you’re not using a decanter).
I recommend to have a glass or two with a hearty Italian meal or indulge with a cheese platter donned with your favourite sharp cheddar or parmigiano-reggiano.
